ViertelBarock Festival is the Open-Air Music Festival for classical music in Vienna's Servitenviertel! The festival inspires with its diverse artistic program, exciting collaborations, interactive events and local cuisine.
ViertelBarock startete 2020 als Konzertreihe, initiiert von der IG Servitenviertel und dem Bach Consort Wien. Ausgangspunkt war der Wunsch, Musik auch unter Pandemiebedingungen erlebbar zu machen – in Form von Freiluftkonzerten. Seit Beginn bietet ViertelBarock ein vielfältiges Programm, mit stimmungsvollen Abendkonzerten und einem bunten Programm für Kinder.

Das erfolgreiche Format wird seit 2023 von ensemble freymut und dem neuen Team der IG Servitenviertel weitergeführt. 2024 expandierte ViertelBarock und fand erstmals als mehrtägiges Festival mit 8 Konzerten und 30 Künstler:innen statt. Außerdem startete in diesem Jahr eine einzigartige Kooperation mit dem spanischen Festival ESPAZOS SONOROS, das die galicische Kultur in Wien präsentiert.
ViertelBarock zeichnet sich durch kreative Konzertformate und eine lebendige Atmosphäre aus, die das französische Flair des Wiener Servitenviertels mit kulinarischen Besonderheiten der lokalen Gastronom:innen harmonisch verbinden.
That was ViertelBarock 2024!
In September 2024, ViertelBarock took place for the first time as a 3-day festival and brought 500 guests to the charming Servitenviertel. The program included family concerts, music picknicks, pop-up concerts and a dance workshop in the green courtyard of the Servite monastery. The partnership with the ESPAZOS SONOROS festival in Spain brought Galician culture to Vienna with literature, wine and tapas.
OUR CONCERT LOCATIONS
Our pop-up concerts take place in the newly renovated pedestrian zone in Servitengasse in the 9th district in Vienna. The green inner courtyard of the Rossau church is used for the participatory dance workshop as well as the evening concerts, and the children's concert will take place in front of the church with free admission.
